Build your Australia study plan around the right course.
Planning to study in Australia? Start with the qualification, subject and learning experience you want. Our counsellors can help organise course research, application documents and the questions to resolve before applying.
1. Compare the exact course
Review modules, entry requirements, duration, campus, delivery mode and any professional accreditation relevant to your goals. Match your academic background to the provider’s requirements rather than choosing by university name alone.
Use CRICOS to check the provider and exact course offered to overseas students. Match the course code and campus to the option you are considering. Registration and a published start option do not confirm that applications remain open.
Check academic records, accepted English evidence and any statements, references, CV or portfolio requested for the course. Confirm the application route and follow the provider’s instructions for pending results or documents.
After an offer: acceptance, CoE and visa preparation
Read the offer conditions, written agreement, payment and refund terms. For the Student visa route, confirm the provider’s Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) process and the documents needed for your situation. Keep an offer, a CoE and a visa decision as separate stages.
Check the official Student visa requirements, including Genuine Student evidence, financial capacity and Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), unless an exception applies. Use the official checklist for the evidence relevant to your application.
Your course record
Keep the provider, exact course, CRICOS code, campus, mode, intended intake, application status, academic and English requirements, costs, funding, offer conditions, official URL and next action together. Use Not yet confirmed for missing information. Keep application, scholarship, acceptance/payment, CoE and arrival instructions separate.
Use AUD to build a budget for your exact course, location and study duration. There is no single Australia study cost that suits every student. Our Guntur team can help you organise university figures and your own living arrangements into a preparation plan.
Tuition and living costs
Include tuition and mandatory fees, accommodation, bills, food, local travel, learning materials, personal expenses and flights. Add OSHC and applicable visa, exam and preparation charges. Check the period and items already covered by each quote.
Compare awards by nationality/residence, course, study level, academic criteria and application route. Check whether support reduces tuition or contributes to other costs, whether a separate form is needed and what conditions apply after enrolment.
Deakin’s Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship is a competitive route for eligible new international coursework students. Review the course exclusions, academic criteria, separate application, statement, references and participation requirements before preparing evidence.
Keep confirmed family funds, written awards and usable approved finance separate from pending applications. Check scholarship renewal and combining-award rules. Do not count unconfirmed employment income as available funding.
Subtract tuition payments already credited and apply each confirmed fee discount once. Track refundable housing deposits as temporary cash needs. Record payment timing and loan release conditions alongside the budget.
Visa financial evidence is a separate check, not another expense to add to living costs. The official minimum is not a personal living-cost quote. Use the Home Affairs Student visa guidance for financial evidence, insurance and current visa charges. Use Not yet confirmed for missing figures or award availability.
Download your Australia budget worksheet
The one-page PDF opens directly on your phone. Save or print it and enter your own AUD figures. It is a manual worksheet and does not calculate totals automatically. Use our funding shortlist or education-loan preparation guide for questions about the remaining gap.
Keep one record for each course instead of combining details from different campuses or entry years. Write down the exact course title, provider, campus, delivery mode, intended start and official course link. Add the date you checked it and save any written clarification from admissions.
Academic fit: Which modules suit your interests? What prior subjects or qualifications are required? Record any question about how your own qualification will be assessed.
Application preparation: List each requested document, its required format and who will provide it. Mark items Ready, Pending, Needs clarification or Not required. Keep the submitted version and acknowledgement.
Financial planning: Record the period covered by each tuition or accommodation figure. Separate confirmed funds, pending scholarship applications and any loan decision still outstanding.
Before acceptance: Read the written offer, conditions, payment schedule and refund terms. Ask the provider about unclear items before paying or accepting.
Use this Australia study record during counselling so your questions are specific. Update the next action and person responsible after each conversation. If availability or a deadline has not been confirmed, write “Not yet confirmed” rather than assuming that the course start date establishes it.
Prepare an Australia study application folder
Organise your working copies by programme. Use clear filenames and keep the original records separate from drafts. Your folder should make it easy to see which version was submitted and which question remains unanswered. Check the provider’s document instructions before preparing a translation, certification or assessment.
Academic and English evidence
Start with your qualification names, institutions, study dates, grades and any pending results. Compare these with the exact course requirements. Record the English evidence accepted for that programme and any conditions attached to it. If you are relying on an exemption, ask the provider to confirm how it applies to your application. Do not book an assessment solely because another student used it.
Statements and supporting material
Read the actual application questions before writing. Explain your own academic interests and reasons for the course using accurate examples. Keep any requested CV, portfolio or work-experience evidence consistent with your study history. Ask referees about the required submission route and allow time for them to respond. Review the final files for readability, completeness and the correct format.
Compare payment commitments
For each offer, note the amount, currency, due date and what the payment covers. Separate a tuition payment from an accommodation deposit or another provider’s charge. Read cancellation and refund conditions before committing. Keep receipts with the relevant offer, and update the budget so a payment is not counted again as an unpaid expense. A pending award should remain separate until confirmed in writing.
Keep application and visa tasks separate
University admission and the student visa are different processes. Keep a separate list of questions for the education provider and for the official visa guidance linked above. Do not treat an offer, course registration or counselling conversation as confirmation of a visa outcome. Use the current instructions relevant to your circumstances when you reach that stage.
Your next counselling conversation
Bring a concise summary rather than every document at the first discussion: your qualification overview, intended subject, preferred start, course links, English-evidence status and budget outline. Explain what matters most to you and what is still uncertain. Together we can turn your Australia study questions into a practical action list, with a source to check and a person responsible for each item.
