Germany Study Guide: Courses, Admissions and Costs

Germany study guide covering course research, admissions, language evidence and study-budget preparation.

GERMANY STUDY PLANNING

Choose a Germany study route that fits your academic background.

Planning to study in Germany? Start with your qualification, subject knowledge and the language of your intended programme. Our counsellors can help organise the course requirements, documents and questions you need to research.

Compare the programme

Review modules, degree level, campus, duration and language of instruction. Match your previous subjects and qualifications to the university’s admission criteria. Check any preparatory-study, subject-credit, portfolio or aptitude requirements for the exact course.

Confirm the application route

The university may use its own application system, uni-assist or a VPD preliminary-review procedure. Confirm the route for your course and applicant category. If a VPD is needed, check the later university application steps as well.

Check Indian academic verification

Use APS India’s requirements and checklists to identify the procedure, evidence and any testing or exemption relevant to your background. Academic verification, university admission and the visa decision are separate processes.

Keep a clear Germany course record

Record the university, exact degree, campus, mode, teaching language, intended intake, academic prerequisites, language evidence, application route, APS/VPD requirements where applicable, fees and funding. Save the official programme URL, application status and next action. Use Not yet confirmed for missing information.

Keep university application, document review, language-test, offer, enrolment and arrival requirements separate. For the visa stage, use the German missions in India study-visa guidance to identify the documents relevant to your circumstances. An academic verification result or an offer is not a visa decision.

GERMANY COSTS, LANGUAGE AND ADMISSIONS

Check the full cost and each admission requirement.

A Germany study plan needs both academic eligibility and a realistic budget. Compare the exact programme, university and city rather than assuming one fee or language rule applies everywhere.

Tuition and semester contributions

Check whether tuition applies to your programme and fee status. A public university is not automatically tuition-free for every international course. Record semester contributions separately, alongside insurance, housing, meals, travel, study materials and other living expenses.

Language evidence

Check the teaching language, accepted certificates and required level for the exact course. An English-taught programme does not remove the need to check its language conditions. Keep language preparation, test booking and result submission in your application plan.

Check language evidence by programme →

Academic eligibility and documents

Review qualification recognition, subject prerequisites, academic records and any translations, certification, APS or preliminary-review evidence requested. Check how documents must be submitted and whether a separate university application remains necessary.

Budget and funding checks before committing

Use EUR and the full study period. Add applicable university or application-processing fees, language preparation/tests, APS, translations, visa charges and flights. Record what is already paid, what remains unpaid and which funding is confirmed. Keep pending awards and unconfirmed employment income separate.

Check the German mission’s accepted financial evidence for your study route. Funds set aside in a blocked account support living costs; do not add that amount as a second living-cost expense. Account, transfer or conversion charges are separate costs where applicable. Confirm when funds can be accessed, and keep refundable housing deposits visible as temporary cash needs.

Ask the university which tuition, semester and enrolment charges apply to your exact course. Compare written fee/refund terms and funding conditions before paying. Use Not yet confirmed for missing amounts.

Download your Germany budget worksheet

Save or print the one-page PDF and enter your own EUR figures. It is a manual worksheet and does not calculate totals automatically. Bring your course links, language evidence and budget questions to our Guntur team.
